Insecurity in Honduras and the Upcoming Elections: What's at Stake for Central America

Of the more than 12 elections taking place in Latin America over the next year, the upcoming presidential election in Honduras is perhaps the most pivotal. With the highest homicide rate in the world, diminishing economic freedom, and increasing levels of narcotrafficking, Honduras faces a crossroads that will greatly impact the future security of the country and the rest of Central America. Panelists will discuss the challenges facing Honduras and will offer recommendations to U.S. policymakers.

Speakers:

Amb. Roger Noriega, Visiting Fellow, American Enterprise Institute, and former Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs

Eric Olson, Associate Director of the Latin America Program, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
